Many people were surprised by the speed and verocity of the Israeli response to what seemed to be a limited operation by Hizballah: Kidnapping two Israeli soldiers to use as bargaining chips in exchange for Lebanese prisoners held in Israel. Hizballah has tried this tactic successfully in the past. But this time the response was swift and completely over the top. many people here felt that this was planned. Within a day the Israelis had systematically destroyed strategic bridges, roads, airport runways, port radars, etc... This didn't look like a war cabinet taking a look at the circumstances, weighing their options, giving an ultimatum for the return of their soldiers, or negotiating. This looked more like they knew exactkly what they wanted to do and they were just waiting for an excuse to do it. Now there are leaks from the media to support this theory. Of course this will be denied, since this would be a conspiracy, and of course the Israeli and the American governments never conspire against the Arabs, right? Take a look at this link: www.newyorker.com/fact/content/articles/060821fa_factIf the link doesn't open, as is likely, Shelly Webster has posted the whole article in the previous thread (the one about the George Galloway interview with Sky News.) Here's another article: beirut.indymedia.org/ar/2006/07/4769.shtml. If you have read or heard anything about this please post it.
