Hello everyone,
The days are flying past, and the time is getting nearer. 20 days to go, and preparations are well underway towards what promises to be the grandest of all Reunions so far. The great majority of our regular group of BHS 70’s have declared their intention to attend again, with the exception of one or two, who are obviously keeping us in suspense till the last minute. In any case, we have so far compiled the longest list of “Definite” attendees since I started compiling these lists back in the year 2000. This year, many people who have not attended previously will be attending for the first time.
Since I sent the last update Susan Webster (now Smith) wrote telling us that she is coming, with her husband, all the way from the UK. Seems the pictures I sent out last week influenced her. This will be the first time she returns to Brummana in 30 years.
Of course, no Reunion can be complete without Ghassan Khammu, our honourary BHS 70’s member. Most of you who have attended previous reunions will be familiar with the special hilarity and jovial atmosphere that surrounds his presence amongst us. His message to us is: “By hook or by crook, and God willing, I will be there.”
Think big… really big… Think like Jennifer Auckland. She’ll be coming all the way from Australia to attend!! And David Aswad, who is based in Dubai, who is doing his best to arrange a quick return from a business trip to the Far East to make it in time for the Quiz Night which we’re hoping to conduct on Thursday night (30th June). Many of you might remember that David’s team won last year’s quiz, and he plans to successfully defend his title!
So the scene is almost set… The program is almost ready… All that remains is for those of you who still have the slightest doubt that you will have the time of your life to make that little bit of extra effort to catch the flight over and be there.
The list of definite attendees has now grown to 34, with the potential that it will grow to 42 if the Probables and the Maybes make it too.

In the last couple of updates I provided you with the BHS OSA program covering the official days of the International Convention, i.e. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of July. As you know, our BHS70s group will also have our own program running alongside and in conjunction with the OSA program. In the couple of days before the official start of the Reunion we propose either lunch or dinner on Wednesday 29th June. A trip to Deir El Kalaa for bowling, babyfoot, pool playing on Thursday afternoon followed by a quiz night on Thursday night. For the two or three days after the official Reunion we propose to make a trip to a nearby picnic area for a barbeque, and other lunches/barbeques etc. to be confirmed nearer the time.
For those of you planning to stay on for longer after the Reunion we propose to make a couple of trips further away. One could be a day trip to Kefraya Winery and Qaroun Lake in the Bekaa Valley. Another could be either a one or two day trip river rafting at the Assi River in the north Bekaa Valley. Both of those trips will prove to be very exciting and worthwhile. If you want to know more about them let me know and I’ll give you more details.
As you can see we have lots of potential for many activities… And, as usual, we also have a few pleasant surprises planned.
Please note that the above are only proposals. We are open to any other ideas from those of you who will be attending, and whatever we end up doing will be decided at the time between all of us who will be there.
So, for those of you who want the rest of us to know that you are coming, let me know so I can add you to the list of attendees. There are two ways you can do so:
Either register, by filling in the form: www.bhs70s.com/news/nextreunion.php. (However, remember that this form is purely for our use to give us an idea who will be attending and if anyone needs help.) Or you can write to me and tell me that you will be coming.
While you’re visiting the BHS70s website I’d like to ask those of you who have not completed the form to be included in the Then and Now pages of the BHS70s website to do so, you’ll find the form at the following page: www.bhs70s.com/aboutyou.php.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
